How to Live a Spiritual Life
To some people, religion may not be as important, but we should also remember that religion (and spirituality) has its benefits - not to mention (physical) health benefits. For one, studies show that if you are spiritually or emotionally healthy, your body is also in better shape. To be specific, spirituality reduces stress and anxiety, making you feel refreshed and renewed both mentally and physically. This makes it important to live a spiritual life all the more. And remember that you don't have to be religious in order to be spiritual. You can:
Step 1:
Meditate. Engaging in deep thought while meditating improves your self and the quality of your life as you reflect upon the important virtues of life such as patience or peace; but aside from that, as you become fully aware or sensitive in all of your five senses while meditating, you also allow yourself to experience fully your existence. It indeed feels good to meditate aside from the fact that it's good for your soul.
Step 2:
Be inspired.Listen to good music or read inspirational thoughts. Having these habits simply makes you al harmonious person. And it pushes you to find a way to live amidst all the mundane things in life, turning them into something special.
Step 3:
Have an ultimate goal. Live according to a purpose, for a good cause, whether it be contributing to a worthy organization, or offering your life in the spirit of your chosen profession, no matter what it may be. This helps direct all of your actions to a life full of meaning.
Step 4:
Belong to a community. Your spirit is uplifted if you belong to a community. You find assurance feeling you're not alone in times of distress and pain. It always reminds you that there's always help and hope in times of need. You also get to give a little something of yourself.
Step 5:
Give generously. Giving makes you feel needed. It gives you a strong sense of your value in this world as a person. It fulfills your essence as a human being - being humane. Hence, always be ready to help, give alms, or volunteer.
Step 6:
Make friends. This makes you realize and accept your imperfections and incompleteness as a human being - that you will always feel the need for fellowship (which is actually the root for one's burning search for a soul mate). After all, no man is an island.
Step 7:
Love as you are loved. Every action has an equivalent reaction. Loving is good karma.
Step 8:
Explore nature. Appreciate life. This makes you realize that you are nonetheless a definitive and important part of this cosmos. Taking an active part such as taking care of the different life forms makes you aware of your ability to change and make a difference. It simply is a good feeling to adopt a pet or plant a tree.
Step 9:
Be thankful. Saying ‘thanks' hooks your brain to realizing how much it feels good to be actually receiving all of the blessings in life you so much deserve.
Be spiritual and you'll never feel your life is empty. You can experience the fullness of life by being spiritual. Being spiritual feels as self-fulfilling and healthy as being a regular practitioner of religion. Even if you are not religious, you can try these tips so you can reap the benefits. If your soul is at peace, so is your body.
